Overview

Following new investment into Psychiatric Liaison Team.

About the Role

We are looking for a highly dedicated nurse who is motivated, compassionate and highly clinically skilled who can work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment. You will work alongside general acute colleagues, mental health colleagues, and crisis response teams such as Alcohol Liaison, Drug & Alcohol services, Safeguarding, Domestic Violence, Homelessness and Dementia & Older Persons Liaison teams.

Shifts & Service

You will be expected to work a shift system across a 24‑hour period seven days a week. Current pattern: days (08:00–20:30) and nights (20:00–08:30).

Team and Setting

The Adult Liaison Psychiatry Service at Royal Cornwall Hospital has provided a highly regarded service since 1999 and, in May 2018, commenced a CORE 24 service extending the clinical availability to 24/7. You will join a multi‑disciplinary team including nurses, a team manager, consultant psychiatrists, CT2 and F1 doctors, medical and team secretaries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive specialist service to the acute hospital for patients presenting following episodes of self‑harm, suicide attempts and other mental health related issues, including substance misuse.
  • Carry out psychosocial assessments and clinical risk assessments.
  • Formulate safe and effective care plans.
  • Work autonomously in a fast‑paced environment within a multi‑disciplinary team.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Registered nursing qualification.
  • Clinical experience in psychiatric liaison or acute mental health care.
  • Strong assessment and risk management skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
