FirstGroup plc in the UK is seeking an NVQ Level 3 qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Slough Depot. You will diagnose faults, carry out repairs, servicing, and breakdown recovery to keep PSV/HGV vehicles on the road.

Applicants should have Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance, a valid UK driving licence, and a keen eye for detail. Shifts are available with minimum 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Experience working on PSV or HGV is preferred.
• Valid UK driving licence is required.

Responsabilités

• Diagnose faults and perform mechanical repairs and part replacements as needed.
• Carry out scheduled servicing, inspections and preventative maintenance.
• Respond to on‑road breakdowns and recoveries and road‑test vehicles as required.
• Ensure documentation is completed accurately in line with regulations and safety standards.

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: First Bus Slough, Stanley Cottages, SL2 5AQ

We are now looking for an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at our First Bus Slough Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

• £22.77 per hour
• Approx. £47,361 per annum
• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Varying shifts available, can be discussed at screening

In this hands‑on role, you’ll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You’ll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on‑road breakdowns and recoveries. You’ll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
