Job summary

First Bus Rochdale Depot is seeking an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy workshop. The role involves diagnosing faults, carrying out repairs, and performing routine servicing to keep PSV/HGV fleets safe and reliable at First Bus Rochdale Depot.

You will work a Monday–Friday, 40-hour week, 07:00–15:30 with overtime paid on weekends. A valid UK driving licence and Irtec accreditation are preferred, along with a strong attention to detail and

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.

• Road test vehicles and ensure documentation meets regulations and health & safety standards.

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: First Bus Rochdale, 4 Corporation Road, OL11 4EU

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Rochdale Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineeringapprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

• £20.06 per hour
• Minimum 40 hours per week
• Monday-Friday
• 07:00am-15:30pm
• Weekend overtime paid at £21.06 Saturday, £22.06 Sunday

In this hands-on role, you’ll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You’ll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You’ll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We’re Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you have Irtec accreditation?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
