Job summary

First Bus Rochdale Depot is seeking a NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join their busy team. You will diagnose faults, perform repairs, service vehicles, and conduct road tests while maintaining strict health and safety standards.

Experience with HGV/PSV is preferred and a valid UK driving licence is required. The role offers 40 hours per week with weekday hours and overtime rates on weekends.

Qualifications

• Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds in vehicle maintenance & repair.
• Valid Irtec accreditation.
• UK driving licence is required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs on PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and routine inspections.
• Respond to on-road breakdowns and recoveries as required.
• Road test vehicles and ensure all paperwork complies with regulations.

Education

Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Rochdale Depot - PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.

Key Details

£20.06 per hour

Minimum 40 hours per week

Monday-Friday 07:00am-15:30pm

Weekend overtime paid at £21.06 Saturday, £22.06 Sunday

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you have Irtec accreditation?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
