Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK seeks an experienced Protection and Control Group Discipline Lead to guide a team across HV substations and transmission projects. Based in Birmingham, Epsom, Glasgow or Leeds, you will work with clients and internal teams to deliver robust energy solutions.

You will line-manage, mentor and recruit, driving FEED and detailed design with a focus on technical integrity and quality bid submissions. Chartered status and IET membership are desirable.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Experience in staff development, line management, team leadership.
• Chartered Engineer and IET membership desirable; TP-141 / CDAE desirable.
• Proven experience in P&C design of substation protection schemes, IEC 61850 and SCADA/SAS integration.
• Encouraged to apply even if not all requirements are met.

Responsibilities

• Line manage a team of protection and control engineers with mentorship and career development support.
• Focus on growth: recruitment, onboarding, retention to scale the team.
• Provide technical leadership for FEED and detailed design on major projects.
• Drive QA to ensure high standards in FEED, design and bid submissions.
• Ensure staff are equipped through training and culture.
