Job summary

Hitachi Energy UK Limited in Birmingham seeks an experienced Protection, Control & Automation Lead to head CPA& C systems for large HV substations, offshore and onshore. You will direct design, interface with SCADA, and coordinate across global teams to deliver robust, safe, and compliant solutions.

You will define system architecture, lead technical discussions, and ensure alignment with standards and customer specs. Travel up to 20% across Europe is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years in Lead Engineer roles for high-voltage/substation projects.
• Strong knowledge of protection, control, automation, SCADA and comms systems.
• Experience with IEC standards and OT cybersecurity in substations.
• Ability to lead international virtual teams in a matrix organisation.
• Experience in tendering and project execution of large substations.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical lead and design authority for CPA & C scope of supply.
• Provide end-to-end leadership across control, protection, automation and SCADA.
• Coordinate engineering contributions with multiple teams and external partners.
• Lead customer technical discussions, design reviews and risk resolution.
• Drive standardization and reusable engineering practices across projects.
• Support tendering activities, including solution strategy and BOMs.
