Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the UK is seeking an experienced Protection and Control Group Discipline Lead to guide a team across Birmingham, Epsom, Glasgow or Leeds. You will deliver FEED and detailed design for major transmission projects, ensuring technical integrity and client compliance.

You will mentor engineers, drive recruitment and onboarding, and maintain high-quality delivery through training and culture. A Chartered Engineer and P&C design background are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualifications and experience.
• Experience in staff development, line management and team leadership.
• Chartered Engineer and IET membership desirable.
• TP-141, CDAE qualifications highly desirable.
• Proven experience in P&C design of substation protection schemes, IEC 61850, SCADA/SAS integration, interlocking, control systems in UK or internationally.

Responsibilities

• Line manage a team of protection and control engineers, providing mentorship, performance management and career development support.
• Ensure high level of communication, engagement and pastoral care throughout the team.
• Focus on growth through recruitment, onboarding and retention to meet market demand.
• Provide technical leadership: lead P&C FEED and detailed design for major transmission scale projects.
• Drive quality assurance for FEED, detailed design and bid submissions to high standards.
• Ensure staff are technically equipped to deliver high-quality work to clients.
