Job summary

WSP is seeking a Protection & Control Engineer to design protection schemes for EHV substations (11kV–400kV), including AIS and GIS, and to contribute to future smart grid developments. Based in Leeds or other UK offices, you will travel to client sites as needed and produce protection drawings, calculations, equipment specifications, and supplier reviews, while supporting site meetings.

Qualifications

• HNC Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in design of protection and control schemes.
• Knowledge of Electrical Networks and standards.

Responsibilities

• Produce comprehensive protection and control drawings for 11–132kV systems.
• Develop protection solutions for future smart grid needs.
• Integrate protection and SCADA systems for cost-effective designs.
• Create engineering calculations and documentation.
• Prepare equipment specifications and support site visits.
• Attend site meetings and update designs as required.
• Review designs from suppliers to ensure compliance with standards.
