Job Introduction

The London Innovation and Improvement Alliance (LIIA) is the sector-led improvement partnership of the Association of London Directors of Children’s Services (ALDCS), hosted by London Councils. We facilitate collaboration to address ALDCS priorities, provide a platform for innovation, share effective practices, and produce accessible shared datasets.

We are seeking a motivated Project Support Officer to join our team in supporting London’s local authorities through collaboration to improve outcomes and experiences for children in the capital.

Role Responsibilities

LIIA runs a varied program of research, joint projects, and policy advocacy to support children’s services within boroughs.

The Project Support Officer will build professional expertise in strategic projects and children’s services, gaining direct exposure to activities related to our delivery and services to London’s Local Authorities, working as part of a dynamic team.

The role will support LIIA’s ‘care leaving’ workstream and a Randomised Control Trial (RCT) conducted by Youth Futures Foundation to identify effective support strategies for young people leaving local authority care, focusing on research, data analysis, coordinating meetings, workshops, governance boards, planning, reporting, and stakeholder engagement. Responsibilities also include administration, event planning, communications (content for briefings, newsletters, social media, website updates), and stakeholder engagement.

For more details, see the attached Job Description and Person Specification document.

The Ideal Candidate

We seek a highly motivated, organized individual with strong administrative skills, project delivery experience, and excellent communication skills. A basic understanding of children’s services in local government and research principles is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and creative platforms like Canva, attention to detail, ability to work independently, manage priorities, and uphold confidentiality are essential. A commitment to equality, high-quality work, and collaborative teamwork is also required.

We encourage applications from under-represented communities, including those with care experience, to promote diversity.

All applications will be processed via a blind sifting method, removing personal identifying details to ensure fair shortlisting.

Note: Using AI tools like ChatGPT or Copilot to answer sift questions without original content demonstrating your skills may result in a mark-down and risks of plagiarism.

About the Company

London Councils represents the collective of London’s local government, including the 32 boroughs and the City of London Corporation. We collaborate to deliver shared ambitions, advocate for boroughs, and run services such as the Freedom Pass, Taxicard, and others.
