Job summary

Brown & Wills Recruitment is seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to oversee a recladding project on a high-rise building in Central Manchester. You will hold full responsibility for delivery, ensuring safety, quality, budget, and schedule targets over a 30-week contract.

Candidates should have a proven track record in major external envelope or recladding projects, a solid understanding of UK building regulations and fire safety rules, and valid certifications such as SMSTS, CSCS

The Role

You will hold full responsibility for delivery, ensuring the project meets all safety, quality, budgetary, and timeline targets over a 30-week contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day site operations and coordinate specialist cladding subcontractors.
• Ensure strict compliance with building regulations, fire safety standards, and health & safety executive (HSE) guidelines.
• Track project milestones against the 30-week schedule, managing risks and resolving delays proactively.
• Act as the primary liaison between the client, local authorities, building control, and residents/tenants.
• Manage budgets, variations, and progress valuations alongside the commercial team.

Requirements

• Proven track record managing major external envelope, facade, or recladding projects.
• Deep understanding of current UK building regulations, fire safety legislation, and Remediation Funds.
• Valid certifications: SMSTS, CSCS Black Card, and First Aid at Work.
• Strong leadership skills to manage complex stakeholder environments in a busy city-centre location.
