Job description

Are you seeking a pivotal role in driving and assuring major construction projects from inception to completion? UK Power Networks are looking for an exceptional Project Manager to join their Capital Programme team in Bury St Edmunds. This is a permanent opportunity where you'll contribute to the transformation of our infrastructure and ensure projects are delivered successfully, safely, and to the highest standards.

As our Project Manager, you'll lead multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate all facets of project delivery-planning, resource forecasting, cost management, and contractor performance. You'll work closely with specialists across Design, Infrastructure Planning, Procurement, Supply Chain, Network Operations and Asset Management, ensuring seamless collaboration throughout every phase. You'll produce delivery plans, manage project programmes, and provide comprehensive reports, all while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service. Your responsibilities will include construction assurance, resource and material management, stakeholder engagement, and regulatory compliance-from Gate B approval through to project execution and completion. You'll undertake audits, site safety inspections, and reporting, making certain every project milestone is achieved.

Alongside a competitive salary of £80,574 and a 3% bonus, you'll enjoy a generous benefits package: 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, additional reservist leave, private medical cover, personal pension contributions with matched company rates, tenancy deposit and season ticket loan schemes, and access to tax-efficient initiatives such as Cycle to Work and Green Car Leasing. Our 'Switched On' scheme offers exclusive discounts at hundreds of retailers, and you'll benefit from occupational health support, discounted gym memberships, and our Employee Assistance Programme. After a successful probation period, you'll have the flexibility to work three days in the office and two days remotely, supporting work-life balance.

We're looking for applicants with a formal qualification from a recognised Project Management or construction professional body (APM PMQ or higher), or a HNC in Electrical or Civil Engineering. If you have a proven track record in project management or electrical distribution infrastructures, we welcome your application-even if you hold a lesser qualification. Experience with construction management best practice, safety qualifications such as IOSH Managing Safely, and familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations and ISO9001 processes are advantageous. Knowledge of Primavera P6, online project collaboration tools, Microsoft Project and Office, and the EHV distribution network will be highly regarded.
