Job summary

Balfour Beatty plc is seeking a Project Manager to lead the delivery of major Power Transmission & Distribution projects in the Surrey area. The role offers flexible working arrangements and a competitive benefits package including site allowances, a company car and subsistence allowances. 45-hour weeks.

You will oversee project reviews, maintain records, and liaise with stakeholders while ensuring safe practices and regulatory compliance across the project team.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering on major projects in infrastructure.
• Strong communication with internal/external stakeholders.
• Ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
• Familiarity with project controls, reporting and RAMS.

Responsibilities

• Hold periodic project reviews and update the Digital Briefcase.
• Maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries).
• Prepare and present internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders.
• Lead and manage teams to ensure deliverables are met.
• Interrogate designs and challenge inputs and deliverables.
• Ensure reports support informed, cost-effective decisions aligned with strategy.
• Promote zero harm and stay up to date with legislation.

About the role

Balfour Beatty has a fantastic opportunity for aProject Managerto join ourhigh-performing Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D)team, leading delivery on Major Projects in the Surrey area

What you'll be doing

• Hold periodic project reviews and update the Digital Briefcase


• Ensure the team maintain accurate project records (progress, daily diaries etc.)


• Prepare and present both internal/external reports and liaise with stakeholders


• Aptitude and ability to understand technical answers / explanations


• Management of teams to ensure works are deliverable


• Ability to interrogate designs and challenge inputs and deliverables


• Ensure reports provide relevant information to enable decisions to be made which are informed, cost effective and in line with overall business strategy


• Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm & keep up to date with changes in legislation


• Accountable for the safety and welfare of the general public, employees and supply chain


• Carry out Safety & Environmental Tours/promote observation and safety initiatives


• Lead Accident/Incident Investigations


• Monitor effectiveness of the H&S Management System and implement improvement actions


• Review RAMS and accepting subcontractor RAMS


• Develop H&S plan and ensure it is treated as a live document


• Ensure sufficiency and competency of workforce


• Produce plans for the team to achieve goals/aspirations


• Develop high performing teams, promote a pipeline of talent and assist with internal training through supporting, guiding, motivating and empowering the team. Using the resources available through training, mentoring and performance management.

Who we're looking for

• Experience of working on a variety of project types


• Able to demonstrate a track record of project delivery


• In depth understanding and practical experience of standard forms of contracts


• Proficient in commercial/project management communications


• Experience in implementing safe systems of work


• Able to communicate effectively both verbal and written with all levels of the organisation


• Communicate new concepts and ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders


• Effective team management skills which empower, influence & inspire others to build effective teams. Providing mentoring and support to members of the team where required


• Good knowledge of performance evaluation techniques and key metrics


• Record of a solution-based approach to problem solving


• Ability to see the business vision and inspire this shared vision amongst the team


• Discuss ideas and plans competently and with confidence


• Sponsor and promote project diversity and inclusion


• Recognise and drive personal development with a learning mindset


• Member of a professional management body i.e. APM


• Proficient on O365


• Holds a current driving licence
