Job summary

SP Energy Networks, part of the Iberdrola Group, is recruiting a Project Engineer to deliver major capital investment and customer connection projects in the Prenton/Birkenhead area. You will guide projects from mobilisation through commissioning and close-out, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage contracts, and maintain governance, with a typical annual portfolio of £5–£15 million.

Qualifications

• HNC in engineering, construction or project management or equivalent.
• Experience managing construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in electricity transmission or regulated infrastructure.
• Experience delivering projects through construction, commissioning, handover and close-out.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and project controls.
• Experience in cost forecasting, change control, risk and opportunity management, and performance reporting.
• Experience in contract and commercial management.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation for construction, especially CDM 2015.
• Knowledge of planning/reporting tools like Primavera P6 and MS Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams across design, engineering, operations, commercial, finance and quality.
• Lead commercial and contract management of appointed contractors and service partners.
• Maintain project governance: programme control, cost forecasting, risk/issue management, change control, reporting and escalation.
• Develop and maintain integrated project programmes, delivery plans, budgets and resource plans.
• Manage project expenditure and financial authority.
• Ensure delivery of outputs, on time, within budgets and to required standards.
• Identify and manage project risks and opportunities; escalate as needed.
• Provide timely project reporting on safety, schedule, cost and quality.
