Job summary

SP Energy Networks (SPEN) is hiring a Project Engineer to deliver major capital investment and customer connections projects in the SP Manweb licence area. The role covers development, mobilisation, construction, commissioning, handover and close-out, ensuring outputs meet safety, quality and regulatory standards.

You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, manage contract and commercial aspects, and maintain governance and reporting.

Qualifications

• HNC in a relevant engineering/construction/project management discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience managing construction or infrastructure projects, preferably in electricity transmission or regulated infrastructure.
• Experience managing projects through construction, commissioning, handover and close-out.
• Knowledge of recognised project management methodologies and project control disciplines.
• Experience in cost forecasting, change control, risk and opportunity management, and performance reporting.
• Experience of contract and commercial management.
• Understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation applicable to construction projects (CDM 2015).
• Knowledge of project planning tools such as Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary project teams (design, engineering, operations, commercial, finance, quality, environmental, construction and commissioning).
• Provide direction, establish accountabilities and manage project risks, dependencies and interfaces.
• Lead commercial and contract management of appointed contractors and service partners (NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, design-and-construct and framework contracts).
• Maintain governance, programme control, cost forecasting, risk management, change control and reporting.
• Develop and maintain integrated project plans, budgets, forecasts, risk registers and resource plans.
• Ensure safe delivery within budgets and regulatory requirements; drive continuous improvement in capital efficiency.
