Job summary

Orion Electrotech is seeking a Project Mechanical Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team. You will drive design concepts and ensure efficient delivery across the full project lifecycle, from initial customer engagement and surveys to fabrication and installation.

The role requires strong CAD skills, 2+ years in mechanical design, and the ability to liaise with customers and production teams to tailor solutions and meet project objectives.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in mechanical design roles taking concepts to production.
• Experience with fabrication, sheet metal, or manufacturing processes.
• Strong CAD skills with ability to produce layouts and 3D models.
• Excellent communication with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Producing engineering designs and layouts using 2D AutoCAD and 3D Inventor.
• Conducting site visits, surveys, and customer consultations to gather project requirements.
• Developing practical engineering solutions tailored to customer needs.
• Preparing RAMS to support installation activities.
• Liaising with manufacturing and fabrication teams to ensure designs are fit for production.
• Monitoring project progress and supporting delivery from concept to installation.
• Utilising ERP and project management systems to plan, track, and manage project activities.
• Providing technical support to internal teams and customers throughout the project lifecycle.
