Job description

International Project Coordinator |Warmley, Bristol (BS30) | Up to £28,000 | Full-time | Permanent | Office-based

Picture this: Somewhere in the world right now, a container crane is crossing an ocean. Equipment for a new data centre is being loaded onto a ship. A subsea cable is being prepared for a project that will power thousands of homes. Before any of it moves, someone needs to make sure the right specialist is in the right place, at the right time, to check it’s done properly. That's the role you will be doing.

The business: Our client is an independently owned, UK-based specialist. For more than 25 years they’ve managed the risks involved in moving high-value, mission-critical cargo for major energy, infrastructure and industrial projects worldwide. Think offshore energy, ports, data centres and subsea cables. They’re based in Warmley with regional offices around the world, and their strength is their people: experienced, hands-on and practical.

The opportunity:As International Project Coordinator in the operations team, you’ll keep survey activity on track across several live projects at once. A client might need cargo inspected, a loading attended or a shipment checked. You’ll organise the surveyor, gather the paperwork and make sure it all happens on schedule, whether that’s in Rotterdam, Houston or Singapore.

Day to day, that looks like:
  • Arranging survey attendances with surveyors around the world, often across time zones
  • Liaising with clients, surveyors and logistics contacts by phone and email
  • Requesting and checking project documentation, from shipping schedules to survey reports
  • Tracking progress and following up outstanding actions so nothing drifts
  • Keeping project records accurate and up to date on SharePoint and internal systems
  • Juggling multiple projects and knowing what needs your attention first
Why it’s a great next step
  • A front-row seat on genuinely big, international projects, from your desk in Bristol
  • Specialist knowledge of project cargo and global logistics, learned from people who’ve done it for decades. It’s a niche, and skills like these are valued and travel well
  • Real variety: different projects, clients and countries every week
  • Responsibility early. You won’t be making the tea; you’ll be making things happen
This would suit someone bright and early in their career who wants a role with real substance. Your background could be any of these:
  • A coordinator or administrator role in a fast-paced operational business
  • A graduate with a year or two of commercial experience
  • Leaving the Armed Forces with a logistics background
The job title matters far less than how you work:
  • You’re naturally organised, and you get uneasy when something is “probably fine”
  • You’re happy picking up the phone to someone you’ve never spoken to, wherever they are
  • You’re accurate with detail, because one wrong date can matter
  • You stay calm and in control with several priorities on the go
  • You spot a problem early and do something about it
  • You’re confident with Microsoft 365, including Outlook, Excel and SharePoint

You don’t need to know anything about cargo surveys yet. Curiosity and organisation matter most; the specialist knowledge will come.
