Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment LTD. is seeking a Progress Tutor for a temporary assignment in a further education college in Warrington. Start ASAP for up to three months, with pay up to £115 per day depending on experience.

The successful candidate will provide pastoral and academic guidance to post-16 students, monitor progress and support attendance, personal development and UCAS applications within a team of pastoral staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting young people aged 16-19 or within a comparable education setting
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to motivate students and establish positive professional relationships
• Experience monitoring attendance, engagement or academic progress
• Confidence delivering group tutorials and conducting individual student meetings
• Good organisational skills and accurate record keeping
• Understanding of safeguarding, student wellbeing and professional boundaries
• Ability to work collaboratively with teaching and pastoral colleagues
• Availability to begin work at short notice
• Experience supporting students with UCAS applications, personal statements or post-16 progression would be particularly advantageous

Responsibilities

• Delivering personal development tutorials and supporting students' wider learning and development
• Conducting one-to-one student progress reviews, identifying barriers to achievement and agreeing improvement targets
• Monitoring student attendance, punctuality, engagement and academic performance
• Supporting students with personal development, motivation and independent learning
• Identifying pastoral and wellbeing concerns and escalating safeguarding matters appropriately
• Working with teaching staff and pastoral colleagues to support students requiring additional intervention
• Maintaining accurate records of student meetings, attendance, progress and agreed action plans
• Communicating professionally with parents and carers where appropriate
• Supporting students with UCAS applications, personal statements or post-16 progression would be particularly advantageous
• Preparing student progress summaries and university references where required
• Encouraging students to take responsibility for their learning, attendance and future progression
