Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd is seeking a Personal Tutor for the West Midlands to support learners throughout their programme. The role focuses on building strong relationships, reviewing progress, and helping students plan next steps, including further study or employment opportunities.

You will provide pastoral guidance, track attendance and behaviour, and serve as the consistent point of contact for learners, helping them stay on track and navigate challenges they encounter during their studies.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with young people in an education or support setting.
• Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to learner success.
• An enhanced DBS check, or a willingness to obtain one.

About the Role

As a Personal Tutor with a further education provider in the West Midlands, you'll work alongside learners to help them stay on track, overcome barriers and plan their next steps. You'll be the consistent point of contact they turn to throughout their programme.

This is a role for someone who enjoys building relationships with young people and seeing the difference that steady, practical support can make.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Meeting learners one to one to review progress and agree targets.
• Providing pastoral support and signposting learners to further help where needed.
• Monitoring attendance, timekeeping and behaviour, and acting on concerns promptly.
• Supporting learners with their next steps, including further study, apprenticeships and employment.

What We're Looking For

• Experience of working with young people in an education or support setting
• Strong communication skills and a genuine commitment to learner success
• An enhanced DBS check, or a willingness to obtain one

Desirable (but not essential):

• Knowledge of additional learning needs
• Up-to-date safeguarding training
