Job summary

Dovetail & Slate Ltd in England is seeking an entry level educational support assistant to work with learners in a further education setting. You will engage with students 1:1, monitor progress and help remove barriers to learning without requiring teaching qualifications.

Responsibilities include pastoral support, tracking attendance, helping with UCAS applications and guiding learners on next steps such as apprenticeships or further study.

Qualifications

• Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths.
• Experience working with young adults.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check.

About the Role

You'll join a further education provider in the North West, working alongside learners to help them stay on track, overcome barriers and plan their next steps. No formal teaching qualification is required — what matters is a genuine enthusiasm for supporting learners.

You'll work closely with individual students and with curriculum colleagues, picking up issues early and putting the right support in place.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Holding 1:1 meetings with learners to discuss progress and develop targets.
• Providing pastoral support to learners throughout their studies.
• Monitoring and actioning issues with timekeeping, attendance and behaviour.
• Supporting learners with their next steps, including UCAS applications, apprenticeships, further study and work.

What We're Looking For

• Level 2 qualification or higher in English and maths
• Experience working with young adults
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check

Desirable (but not essential):

• Knowledge of additional learning needs
• Up-to-date safeguarding training, or a willingness to obtain it
