Job summary

Academics Agency is seeking a dependable Progress Tutor to support Barnsley secondary schools. The role is temporary, term-time only, Monday to Friday, with placement across multiple settings.

Salary ranges from £92.56 to £110 per day, including accrued holiday entitlement, with higher rates possible based on experience and school budgets. Key duties include one-to-one and small group tutoring, progress monitoring, EHCP material tailoring, and collaboration with SENCOs.

Qualifications

• Level 4/5 teaching qualification or equivalent is desirable.
• Experience working with secondary-aged students in education setting.
• DBS certificate (Enhanced) registered on Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
• Two professional references confirming tutoring/educational experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide targeted one-to-one and small group tutoring sessions across subjects and year groups.
• Monitor progress, identify development areas and raise attainment.

Progress Tutor - Barnsley Secondary Schools

Academics Agency is recruiting dependable and flexible Progress Tutors to support secondary schools throughout Barnsley.

Employment Type: Temporary, during term time only (Monday to Friday)

Placement: Multiple educational settings in the Barnsley area

Salary: £92.56 - £110 per day, including accrued holiday entitlement. Higher rates may be offered based on prior experience, credentials, and individual school budgets.

As a Progress Tutor, you will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Key Duties

• Provide targeted one-to-one and small group tutoring sessions across a range of subjects and year groups.
• Monitor student progress, identify areas for development, and implement strategies to raise attainment.
• Assist with the practical application of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), collaborating with Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs) to tailor materials and monitor student development.
• Support students in building confidence, study skills, and independent learning techniques.
• Work alongside teaching staff to track progress and provide feedback on student performance.

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant tutoring or teaching qualification (e.g., Level 4/5 or equivalent) is desirable.
