What you’ll be responsible for

Operate Water Treatment Works and associated water pumping stations to company BMS and Health & Safety requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Controlling chemical and other stock levels and consumables by control and management of purchasing via SAP. Monitoring and controlling expenditure to meet budgetary targets
  • Inducting, supervising and managing outside contractors carrying out revenue and reactive capital maintenance breakdowns and projects ensuring full compliance to Health & Safety and BMS requirements and ensuring quality control
  • To liaise with the ME&I team on revenue and reactive capital maintenance work
  • Liaising and planning work with network supervisors and operatives to ensure uninterrupted supply when plant shut downs are required for maintenance and other associated work required on site
  • Participating in arrangements and cover for annual leave and sickness for area of operation
  • Undertaking any other duties as required to meet the needs of the business

About you

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher, BTEC, ONC/HNC qualifications in Water
  • Experience gained in the industry to ensure full compliance and adherence to all H&S issues
  • Enthusiastic about putting our customers first every day
  • Willing to develop and learn within the role and have the flexibility and competence to operate and maintain multiple sites, and associated assets
  • Computer systems literate including SAP, Scope X, Exchange, Word and Excel
  • Awareness of regulatory bodies such as DWI and Environment Agency/NRW
  • Dealing with control of abstraction under licence at raw water intakes
  • Dealing with discharge consent licence for all environmental discharges
  • Excellent organisation skills and be efficient with the capability of completing several tasks at once whilst working well under pressure will be beneficial
Good to know
  • 37hrs Monday – Friday.
  • The successful candidate will be required to participate in 1 in 4 Standby, weekend working is included when on standby.
