Job description
Summary

YASA is looking for highly motivated Production Operators to come and join the electrification revolution! You'll be working in an automotive production environment building electric motors to meet customer volumes. You will be responsible for following work instructions carefully and diligently to complete complex assembly processes whilst ensuring that a high standard of quality is maintained.

About YASA

YASA, a Mercedes Benz group company, is leading the way in EV Motor Revolution with our patented and unique Axial Flux Technology. Our motor is more powerful, lighter, and smaller than our competitors. Our spirit of innovation drives us to continually explore and test new technologies, a mindset that exists from early-stage R&D projects through to manufacturing optimisation. We stay true to the freedom and flexibility that drove our success as a start‑up, alongside having the stability, security, and roadmap of an established organisation.

What You’ll Do:
  • Perform assembly tasks according to documented Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).

  • Conduct in-process quality checks (e.g., torque checks, visual inspections, electrical testing) to ensure components meet specifications.

  • Accurately complete quality documentation and correctly process non-conforming material to support no fault forward.

  • Escalate any issues preventing the production of a conforming part (e.g., equipment malfunctions, defective components, unclear work instructions) to the Team Leader.

  • Follow all traceability and documentation requirements for materials and assembled components.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area by adhering to 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain).

  • Ensure tools, fixtures, and materials are stored correctly and returned to designated locations after use.

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

  • Perform basic maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubrication, and routine checks to keep equipment in optimal condition.

  • Report any equipment issues or failures immediately to prevent downtime or defective production.

  • Immediately escalati any problems affecting safety, quality, or production output to the appropriate Team Leader or support team.

  • Actively participate in problem-solving discussions and provide feedback for process improvements.

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, engineers, and quality teams to ensure smooth production flow.

  • Support training of new team members by sharing best practices and ensuring adherence to standard work.

  • Contribute ideas for process improvements to enhance safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

To succeed in this role, we believe you’ll need:
  • The ability to maintain high levels of accuracy and consistency in work.

  • A flexible approach with a proactive, can-do mindset.

  • Good verbal and written communication abilities for effective teamwork and documentation.

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a small internal team.

  • Ability to perform well under pressure, manage competing demands, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Competence in navigating Microsoft Windows and using programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Although not expected, it would be very beneficial if you have:
  • Prior experience in a full-scale manufacturing environment, ideally within the automotive sector, focusing on mechanical or electrical production assembly.

  • Experience in setting up and operating production equipment following good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.

  • Familiarity with adhesives, wire and cable preparation, soldering, and crimping.

  • Understanding of quality standards and their impact on the end user.

Our mission is to lead the design and delivery of the best electric motor technology available. We believe that diversity of thought, and experience is a key driver of innovation. Research shows that while men apply to jobs if they meet ~60% of criteria, women and those in traditionally underrepresented groups tend to only apply if they check all boxes. So if you think you have what it takes but don’t meet every single point, please still get in touch. We’d love to have an initial chat and see if you could add value.
