Job description

Production Manager

Location: Dorset
Salary: GBP45-50,000 DOE

We are currently seeking a Production Manager for an expanding and innovative food manufacturer that supplies premium products to a wide range of customers.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be based near Weymouth. This is a Monday to Friday day shift role, with responsibilities including ensuring production targets are met and managing a team of over 80 staff across two shifts.

Production Manager Responsibilities:

1. Manage the production and packing areas.
2. Maintain food safety, integrity, legality, and quality standards.
3. Ensure staff adhere to company procedures and health and safety standards.
4. Manage factory staff, including assistant production managers, supervisors, and operatives.
5. Coordinate with all departments to ensure orders and products are made and packed to meet safety, quality, and delivery requirements.
6. Plan and organize staff to complete the production schedule efficiently.
7. Ensure adequate training and multi-skilling of staff.
8. Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure equipment, materials, and packaging are available on time.
9. Complete necessary reports, attend meetings, and conduct morning briefings.
10. Monitor productivity and implement projects for continuous improvement.
11. Perform other duties as required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in food, drink, pharma, or FMCG manufacturing.
• Organized, able to work under pressure.
• Previous managerial experience.
• Hands-on approach and enjoyment of training and developing staff.
• Excellent people skills, including coaching.
• Knowledge of H&S regulations.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
