Job description

Production Manager

Location: Dorset
Salary: £45-50,000 DOE

We are currently seeking a Production Manager for an expanding and innovative food manufacturer that supplies premium products to a wide range of customers.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role is based near Weymouth. It is a Monday to Friday day shift role. The main responsibilities include ensuring production targets are met and managing and developing a team of over 80 staff across two shifts.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage the production and packing areas.
2. Maintain food safety, integrity, legality, and quality standards.
3. Ensure staff adherence to all company procedures and health and safety standards.
4. Manage factory staff including Assistant Production Managers, supervisors, and operatives.
5. Liaise with all departments to ensure orders and products are made and packed to meet safety, quality, and delivery requirements.
6. Plan and organize staff to achieve efficient production.
7. Ensure adequate multi-skilled staffing and training.
8. Coordinate with relevant departments to ensure availability of equipment, materials, and packaging.
9. Complete required reports, attend meetings, and conduct daily briefings.
10. Monitor productivity and initiate projects for continuous improvement.
11. Perform any other duties as required.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience in Food, Drink, Pharma, or FMCG manufacturing.
• Organized and able to work under pressure.
• Previous managerial experience.
• Hands-on approach with a passion for training and development.
• Excellent people skills, including coaching and mentoring.
• Knowledge of H&S regulations.
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.

This role is commutable from Wincanton, Dorchester, Yeovil, Weymouth, Bournemouth, and Bridport areas.
