Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd is recruiting a Production Build Technician for our client in Royston. In this hands-on role you will assist with the assembly, wiring and testing of high-value systems, ensuring quality, efficiency and performance.

The position is temporary for 12 months with potential extension, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday. Salary is up to £22 per hour, dependent on experience.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in technical manufacturing, production or assembly.
• Good understanding of mechanical assembly techniques.
• Ability to perform basic mechanical fault finding.
• Confident reading and interpreting basic mechanical drawings.
• Strong practical mechanical build skills.
• Ability to fit and route wiring harnesses.
• Experience in cell-based manufacturing, commissioning or testing is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hands-on mechanical assembly of products as part of the production team.
• Complete wiring and product testing where required.
• Follow established production processes accurately and consistently.
• Work with Production Engineering and other departments to identify and implement process improvements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date production documentation.
• Communicate effectively with Cell Leaders to maximise production efficiency.
• Contribute to achieving production targets, deadlines and quality standards.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of lean manufacturing practices.
• Assist with batch release activities.

As part of the production team, you will be involved in the assembly, wiring and testing of products, while also working closely with internal departments to support continuous improvements in design, processes and manufacturing efficiency.
