Job summary

OGT, a Cambridge-based genomic solutions provider, is seeking a part-time Procurement Assistant to support purchasing and supplier management. The role focuses on PO processing, supplier data maintenance, and helping ensure timely deliveries of lab and operational materials.

The ideal candidate will have procurement or supply chain exposure, strong organisational skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.

Qualifications

• Experience in procurement, purchasing or supply chain.
• Strong organisational skills and multitasking.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry.
• Good written and verbal communication with suppliers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn systems.
• Ability to follow procedures and maintain records.

Responsibilities

• Raise, check, update and progress purchase orders in line with requests and procedures.
• Maintain accurate supplier, item, pricing and delivery information in ERP/MRP.
• Monitor open orders and communicate delivery status to colleagues.
• Request quotations and order confirmations from suppliers.
• Support purchasing of approved goods and services including consumables and materials.
• Check PO, delivery notes and invoices; help resolve discrepancies.
• Assist with supplier onboarding and maintenance of supplier data.
• Compare prices and lead times; escalate significant cost or supply concerns.
• Maintain procurement records for audits and planning.
• Collaborate with Production, Quality, Finance, Warehouse and others to progress requirements.
• Support stock availability and supply continuity by flagging shortages.
• Contribute to procurement process improvements and new systems implementation.
• Adhere to quality management procedures and report non-compliances.
