Job description

Pharmacy Technician - Outpatient Pharmacy

As a member of the Outpatients pharmacy team, you will contribute to providing a range of pharmaceutical services, including issuing prescriptions, offering advice where appropriate, and working alongside the Outpatient Pharmacy team to ensure all pharmacy duties are carried out in accordance with legal and operational parameters. This includes stock asset management and adhering to departmental procedures to meet customer needs.

  1. Oversee Outpatient Pharmacy's stock asset management, including maintaining accurate stock levels, placing orders, and receiving deliveries.
  2. Assist in the safe and economical usage, supply, and distribution of drugs, following legislation and hospital formulary guidelines to support the Trust's objectives.
  3. Participate actively in risk management within the department and Trust.
  4. Conduct stock checks and manage the return of unused items to optimize costs.
  5. Lead, deliver, and evaluate procurement and invoicing processes within the HHCS Pharmacy Business Unit for both internal and external customers.
  6. Generate monthly reports using the pharmacy stock control computer system.
  7. Implement the Trust’s response to Medicine Recalls during working hours.
  8. Monitor drug wastage due to expiration and aim to minimize it.
  9. Collect data for internal and external audits related to dispensing, supply, and procurement to ensure quality assurance and compliance with financial instructions.
  10. Add new products and presentations to the pharmacy stock control system.
  11. Ensure pharmaceutical storage temperature is within range using the automated temperature monitoring system.
