Job summary

SSE Hornsea Gas Storage seeks a Process Engineer to provide technical process engineering support across the Hornsea sites, improving plant availability, cost performance and SHE.

You will monitor plant performance, identify deviations, implement corrective actions with the Shift Engineers, develop operating instructions, conduct root cause analyses and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering with chemical or process emphasis.
• Experience with gas processing and process optimization.
• Ability to analyse data and present findings clearly.

The role

As Process Engineer, you’ll provide professional Process Engineering expertise to the SSE Hornsea Gas Storage sites in order to maintain and improve site availability, direct cost performance and SHE performance.

You will also

• Monitor and assess plant performance to identify deviations from the normal operating parameters in terms of process capability, availability, gas quality and direct costs.
• Identify corrective actions required to restore site operation to the accepted norm and work alongside the Shift Engineers and Technicians to implement them
• Develop and maintain Operating Instructions and Procedures and provide training to shift personnel in their use to ensure that the plant is operated in the correct manner by all process staff.
• Carry out Root Cause Analysis investigations as required to identify causes of failures to meet nominations, process problems and equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
• Identify and drive opportunities for continuous improvement.

To be considered for this role you should have

• Technical knowledge of processes surrounding high pressure gas injection, storage and withdrawal.
• Proficiency in a range of IT applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to analyse, collate and present technical data effectively, and produce clear, accurate and well‑structured reports.
• A degree level qualification in an engineering discipline, with a preference for chemical or process engineering backgrounds.
• Excellent prioritisation skills with a continual focus on process improvement.
