Job summary

Vivid Resourcing Ltd are currently recruiting an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to support a busy Norfolk local authority enforcement team. The role involves inspecting private sector housing, carrying out HHSRS assessments and enforcing Housing Act provisions.

You will manage a varied caseload with minimal supervision, liaise with landlords, tenants and partner agencies, and maintain accurate case records using council systems.

Qualifications

• Experience as Private Sector Housing Officer or Environmental Health Officer.
• Strong HHSRS inspection and assessment experience.
• Experience serving notices under Housing Act enforcement actions.
• Ability to manage a busy caseload independently.
• Excellent knowledge of housing legislation and enforcement procedures.

Responsibilities

• Undertake inspections of private sector residential properties.
• Carry out HHSRS assessments, including knowledge of the latest HHSRS 2 guidance and principles.
• Investigate housing complaints including damp and mould, excess cold, disrepair and other housing hazards.
• Serve and enforce statutory notices under the Housing Act 2004.
• Prepare evidence and case files to support enforcement action.
• Conduct HMO inspections and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Liaise with landlords, tenants, managing agents and partner agencies.
• Maintain accurate case records using the council's case management systems.
