Job summary

Lloyds Banking Group in the UK seeks a Private Cloud Infrastructure Specialist (VMware) to design, build, operate and continuously improve services on VMware and Bare Metal platforms. The role focuses on automation-first platform engineering, enabling scalable, secure infrastructure across the private cloud ecosystem.

You will work with internal teams, partners and vendors to deliver resilient solutions, while applying IaC principles and ensuring compliance within a regulated environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an Infrastructure or Platform Engineer in a private cloud environment.
• Experience with compute infrastructure technologies including VMware vSphere/Cloud Foundation, vSAN, NSX, Aria Suite, Dell hardware.
• Experience designing and operating platforms using automation and infrastructure-as-code.
• Source Code Management (Git / GitHub).
• Understanding of security, compliance and resilience in enterprise environments.
• Experience supporting production platforms with high availability and performance requirements.
• Agile ways of working; designing or contributing to Hybrid Private Cloud solutions.
• Backup, restore and disaster recovery processes.
• Performance tuning and optimisation; incident, problem and defect management (L3/4).
• Secure configuration and compliance with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, operate and improve services on VMware and Bare Metal platforms.
• Drive automation and infrastructure-as-code to enable safe, repeatable changes.
• Provide expert guidance while coordinating with internal teams, partners and vendors.
• Support and maintain enterprise infrastructure platforms with focus on security and resilience.
