Position: Prison Support Worker (Recovery)

We are seeking to recruit a Prison Support Worker to work for a charity based within a prison in York, supporting male offenders who are in recovery from substance or alcohol misuse.

Details:

  • Permanent, full-time position
  • Salary: £24,000 - £26,000 per annum
  • Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm
  • Extensive induction and training provided, including key holder safety procedures
Requirements:
  • Experience working with substance misuse, addiction, or recovery
  • Experience of the criminal justice system and/or offenders
  • Driving license and vehicle (due to prison location)
  • High resilience to stress
  • Available to start within 4 weeks
Responsibilities:
  • Providing support and advocacy to inmates
  • Offering advice and guidance on available resources
  • Completing substance misuse risk assessments and support plans
  • Delivering 1:1 and group sessions
  • Building positive and effective relationships through good communication
  • Collaborating closely with prison staff and substance misuse services
