Job description

PURPOSE: To provide a safe, secure, and dignified transport service for vulnerable adults and children. VCare24 offers a bespoke service tailored to each individual's requirements. Our secure transport operates 24/7, 365 days a year, nationwide.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Promote and safeguard the welfare of young people and/or vulnerable adults.
  2. Comply with statutory obligations as specified in regulations and standards such as the CQC, OFSTED, Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
  3. Follow VCare24’s policies and procedures at all times.
  4. Understand, record, and utilize both computerized and manual filing systems, e.g., Clientbridge, Jot forms, Find My Shift.
  5. Be available for transport as per your planned shift patterns and remain within 60 minutes of the designated meeting point.
  6. Provide a safe and dignified transport service, including:
  • Transporting patients under the Mental Health Act 1983
  • Placement transfers and supervised contacts
  • Transporting high-risk young people (e.g., absconding, violent, or aggressive behavior)
  • Court appearances
  • Transporting informal patients
  • Transporting dementia and older patients
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date data and provide feedback to clients, using Clientbridge and Jot forms systems.
  • Ensure all vehicle safety checks are completed and documented before conveyance.
  • Participate in personal development activities such as staff meetings, supervision, training, and departmental forums.
  • Refer any concerns, suspicions, or allegations related to child or vulnerable adult safeguarding to line management or safeguarding officers, following relevant guidelines.
  • Be flexible to meet operational needs, undertaking similar duties across various workplaces within VCare24.
  • Maintain confidentiality and securely store sensitive information, e.g., locked cabinets, password protection, security bags.
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and related legislation, taking personal responsibility for health and safety of oneself and others.
  • GENERAL:

    The above responsibilities are not exhaustive and may vary without changing the character of the job or level of responsibility.

    • All staff will be offered a 40-hour weekly contract.
    • Shift patterns will be provided, with staff expected to be on call 24/7 during their shifts and within 60 minutes of the office or designated meeting point in York.
    • Overtime will be paid additionally.
    • All staff must complete a 10-day induction training, including practical and theoretical components.
    • A full driving license is required.
    • Staff must be over 21 years old (for insurance purposes).
    • A full Enhanced DBS check will be completed.
