Job summary

Dovetail And Slate Ltd seeks a Learning Support Practitioner to join the prison education team on-site at HMP Littlehey. You will deliver one-to-one and small group support to adult learners with SEND/ALN, helping them engage with the curriculum and work towards qualifications.

Working alongside tutors, healthcare teams and neurodiversity specialists, you’ll use assessment tools and maintain MoJ records, ensuring safeguarding and quality standards are met in a secure environment.

Qualifications

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English at Grade C / Grade 4 or above.
• Proven experience supporting individuals with SEND or ALN.
• Strong organisational skills to manage a diverse caseload and maintain MoJ records.
• Excellent communication, proactive and empathetic approach, resilience, and passion for helping adult learners.

Responsibilities

• Tailored Learner Support: Deliver in-class and one-to-one assistance for learners with SEND or ALN.
• Support Planning & Profiling: Use assessment tools to construct and review course-specific support plans.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with tutors, prison staff, healthcare practitioners and neurodiversity specialists to ensure adjustments.
• Documentation & Compliance: Record, track and manage all support documentation within MoJ systems.
• Inclusive Environment: Foster a safe, inclusive learning space and contribute to whole-prison ALN.
