Job summary
SSE’s SSEN Transmission is hiring a Principal Substation Engineer based in Scotland to join the Technical Engineering team in Project Engineering. The role focuses on standardisation, design improvements and innovation adoption to help deliver a network for Net Zero.
You will lead design aspects for HV 132kV-400kV switchgear, busbar and LV systems, develop substation standardisation, train junior engineers and support recruitment while aligning projects with TA approvals and UK regulatory
Qualifications
- Degree in electrical engineering with Chartered status or working towards it.
- Significant experience in substation design and delivery, HV switchgear and LV systems.
- Knowledge of Transmission network regulation and UK legal/regulatory obligations.
Responsibilities
- Promote best practice in substation design and standardisation.
- Develop substation standardisation and oversee design implementation.
- Provide training and mentorship to junior engineers and support team growth.
- Ensure technical requirements align with regional strategy and TA approvals.
- Support Lead Principal Substation Engineer in design and innovation initiatives.
