Job summary

Stantec Inc. in the UK is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to lead the design and delivery of complex energy projects, including hydropower and dam infrastructure, through concept to construction.

Qualifications

• A BEng or MEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status or actively working towards ICE/IStructE.
• Strong experience in structural engineering design across infrastructure, ideally including hydropower and dam projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis, numerical modelling and hand calculations.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and providing technical oversight to engineers and technicians.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A commitment to technical excellence, quality and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural engineering delivery of major energy projects and provide technical direction throughout project development.
• Prepare and review detailed calculations, technical reports and design packages for submission to regulatory authorities.
• Provide technical oversight, mentoring and guidance to engineers and technicians within project teams.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with relevant design standards, legislation and quality assurance processes.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement, promoting best practice in structural engineering design and delivery.
