Job summary

Multidisciplinary Consultancy is seeking a Principal Structural Engineer in North Yorkshire. You will lead structural design for diverse projects, coordinating with a multi-disciplinary team and delivering cost-effective, constructible solutions.

The role requires hands-on calculations with AutoCAD, TEDDS and Tekla, site surveys, meetings, and overseeing construction phases while mentoring junior engineers and ensuring CDM compliance with UK standards.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
• Extensive post-qualification experience in an engineering consultancy.
• Strong understanding of RC, steel, timber and masonry design.
• Proficiency in design software and MS Office tools.
• Ability to work independently on surveys, designs and reporting.
• Excellent communication skills and a full UK driving licence.
• Experience working on building structures.

Responsibilities

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

The role:

Lead and develop structural design solutions for both superstructures and substructures across varied sectors and challenging sites. Collaborate within a multi-discipline design team to deliver constructable, cost-effective, and client-focused outcomes. Produce detailed calculations and design specifications using hand calculations and software tools such as AutoCAD, TEDDS, and Tekla Structural Designer. Manage multiple project workflows, budgets, and timelines while supporting junior engineers. Conduct site surveys, attend project meetings, respond to technical queries, and oversee construction phases. Undertake structural condition assessments and provide remediation reports. Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and relevant UK and European standards.
