Job summary

Nexos Group is seeking a Principal Consultant – Power Systems Engineering to lead technical assurance and advanced modelling across industrial, commercial, and microgrid projects in the UK. You will guide BESS, Solar PV, embedded generation, and complex microgrid architectures with authoritative ETAP/PSCAD analysis.

We require a senior professional with 10+ years in power systems, Chartered status preferred, and strong client advisory skills.

Qualifications

10+ years of experience in power systems engineering, consultancy, or technical assurance environments.
Expert-level experience using ETAP and PSCAD for power systems analysis and simulation.
Strong knowledge of industrial and commercial power networks, embedded generation, and BESS/ Solar PV.
Excellent technical report writing, stakeholder engagement, and client-facing communication.

Responsibilities

Lead advanced power system studies using ETAP and PSCAD, delivering robust technical assurance.
Perform load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc flash, transient stability studies.
Develop assurance and validation frameworks for large-scale behind-the-meter assets (BESS, Solar PV, microgrids).
Conduct technical due diligence, risk assessments and independent design reviews.
Review OEM, vendor and EPC modelling assumptions for robustness and design integrity.
Provide technical leadership on complex client projects and deliver risk mitigation strategies.
