Job summary

RED Engineering Design is expanding its power systems team in the UK. We seek a Principal Power Systems Engineer to lead simulations and design support for data centres, working from London, Bicester, or Newcastle offices.

You will run load-flow and fault analyses, coordinate protection, and contribute to harmonic and stability studies, while mentoring junior engineers. The role requires a Power Engineering degree and proven experience with ETAP (preferred) or DigSilent/SKM, with strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Power Engineering.
• Proven experience in power systems engineering, preferably within the data centre industry.
• Proficiency in ETAP (preferred); DigSilent or SKM also acceptable.
• Experience with Load Flow, Short Circuit Analysis, Protection Coordination, Arc Flash, Harmonic Studies, and Underground Cable Sizing.
• Experience in Transient Stability studies is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Run computer simulations to design and optimize power systems for data centres.
• Support design teams and ensure reliability and efficiency of power distribution systems.
• Coordinate protection schemes and perform arc flash studies to mitigate risks.
• Validate input data and prepare comprehensive reports detailing simulation results and design considerations.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation related to power system simulations and design support.
