Job description

Principal Network Engineer

Salary: £85,000 plus annual bonus

Location: Remote, UK

We are seeking a highly experienced Network Engineer with expertise in diverse infrastructure to establish a Technical Operations-first approach to both cloud and on-premises environments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing hosting environments, ensuring observability, high availability, and information security with Infrastructure as Code (IaC). This is a senior role requiring experience with multiple simultaneous projects, including legacy infrastructure and migration to modern systems.

Key expertise needed includes Palo Alto, Next-Gen Firewalls, and Prisma.

The environment focuses on observability, high availability, and security, supporting infrastructure components such as switches, routers, load balancers, firewalls, compute, storage, and virtualization. Experience in mergers & acquisitions is a plus.

Technical Expertise – Must Haves

• Strong experience with Palo Alto portfolio, including Prisma
• Solid understanding of BGP with field experience in design, deployment, and troubleshooting
• Enterprise-level system and network design experience
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Knowledge of IPSEC, DHCP, DNS
• Strong experience with Juniper switches & routers (Cisco considered)
• Experience with VXLAN and EVPN
• Load balancing expertise (HAProxy preferred, F5, A10, Kemp as alternatives)
