About The Role

We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Property Services team in Manchester or Leeds. This is an exciting opportunity to work on buildings that adapt and respond to environmental changes, focusing on efficiency, reliability, and lifecycle value.

You will work within a proven team across sectors like Residential, Commercial, and Healthcare, leading projects and collaborating with specialists. Your responsibilities include:

  • Securing new projects and servicing clients, supporting project planning and delivery.
  • Providing leadership and guidance to team members.
  • Collaborating with other teams on diverse projects.
  • Recruiting, training, and developing team members.
  • Conducting design, specification, site monitoring, and post-occupancy activities.
  • Writing technical reports such as feasibility studies and condition surveys.
  • Liaising with clients and managing project aspects.
What You’ll Be Doing

You will manage a varied portfolio of UK-based projects, including small projects up to several million pounds, providing technical support to clients and stakeholders. Our key services include:

  • Technical Due Diligence
  • Plant Replacement
  • Design of challenging existing buildings
  • Maintenance and operational services
  • Sustainability and Energy Efficiency projects

Projects span sectors like Commercial, Retail, Residential, Education, Healthcare, and more.

About You

You should be a qualified design engineer (chartered or working towards it) with experience in existing building projects, excellent communication skills, and a strong technical background in building services. Other requirements include:

  • Experience in performance specification, contract administration, and site duties.
  • Knowledge of UK and EU regulations.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • A proven track record in work-winning and team building.
