Job summary
WSP is seeking a Principal Engineer in Fire Engineering to lead rail and road fire safety design in Greater Manchester. You will drive from concept through construction, support fire risk assessments, and help develop retrofit solutions across major projects.
The role emphasizes collaboration within a global engineering team, applying heat transfer and fluid dynamics knowledge to fire safety systems, including detection, suppression and hydrants, with a hybrid working model in the UK.
Qualifications
- Excellent technical knowledge in Fire Engineering or related engineering discipline.
- Awareness of interdisciplinary design through all design stages.
- Ability to take a brief from project lead and deliver within time/budget.
- Understanding of clients' needs.
Responsibilities
- Develop fire safety design for Rail and Road infrastructure from concept through construction, assurance and commissioning.
- Carry out Fire Risk Assessments for compliance with relevant fire safety codes.
- Assist with fire safety systems design such as fire alarm, detection, and hydrant design.
- Develop fire strategies from concept through to construction and retrofit solutions.
