Job summary

Kier Group is seeking a Principal Engineer to join Kier Design, with hybrid working across multiple UK locations. You will lead temporary works design, value engineering and design management on a broad portfolio of projects, guiding teams and mentoring colleagues to deliver safe, buildable solutions.

You will manage projects from inception to delivery, ensure technical compliance, and build strong client relationships while contributing to Kier's reputation for innovative engineering outcomes

Qualifications

• Must be Chartered member of a relevant professional institution with relevant experience.
• Experienced in leading complex construction engineering projects.
• Skilled in temporary works design, value engineering, and design management.
• Comfortable providing technical leadership and mentoring to teams.
• Able to build positive relationships with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and consultancy services including temporary works design, bid support and value engineering.
• Manage projects from remit development through to completion with technical compliance.
• Oversee engineers and technical staff, contributing to design deliverables and quality.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring to colleagues for professional development.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders, representing Kier at meetings and supporting growth.
