Job summary

JAM Recruitment Ltd is assisting a Midlands-based multidisciplinary consultancy to recruit a Principal Civil Engineer for their Longbridge office in Birmingham. The role leads a growing civil engineering team, owns infrastructure schemes and shapes the office's future direction.

The ideal candidate will have significant civil infrastructure experience, strong leadership and client relationship skills, plus proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and WinDes. Hybrid working is available.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in civil infrastructure design.
• Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of highways and drainage design, including relevant Section Agreements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WinDes (or equivalent design software).
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• Chartered status (or working towards Chartership) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design and delivery of infrastructure projects across residential and commercial developments.
• Mentor and support engineers and technicians, encouraging technical development and best practice.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
• Prepare, review and approve technical designs, reports, drawings and calculations.
• Ensure projects comply with Section 278, Section 38, Section 104 and Section 185 agreements.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and resources to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and supporting the growth of the Birmingham office.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and strengthen the Civil Engineering team.
