Job summary

RGB Recruitment is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer for the Longbridge, Birmingham region. You will lead the design and delivery of infrastructure projects, mentor engineers, and build strong client relationships to drive growth in the Midlands.

The role requires extensive civil infrastructure experience in residential development, expertise in highways and drainage design, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and WinDes.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in civil infrastructure design, especially residential development.
• Proven ability to lead projects and manage client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of highways and drainage design, with relevant Section Agreements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WinDes (or equivalents).
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• Chartered status (or working towards) would be advantageous.

• Mentor engineers and technicians, encouraging technical development and best practice.

Principal Civil Engineer – Longbridge, Birmingham

Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 per annum (DOE)

The Role

As Principal Civil Engineer, you will combine technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, overseeing projects from concept through to completion while supporting the continued growth of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design and delivery of infrastructure projects across residential and commercial developments.
• Mentor and support engineers and technicians, encouraging technical development and best practice.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
• Prepare, review and approve technical designs, reports, drawings and calculations.
• Ensure projects comply with Section 278, Section 38, Section 104 and Section 185 agreements.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and resources to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and supporting the growth of the Birmingham office.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and strengthen the Civil Engineering team.

What We're Looking For

• Significant experience in civil infrastructure design, particularly within residential development.
• Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of highways and drainage design, including relevant Section Agreements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WinDes (or equivalent design software).
• Excellent communication, leadership and organisational skills.
• Chartered status (or working towards Chartership) would be advantageous.
