Job summary

Mott MacDonald is recruiting Principal Building Services Engineers to join our Nuclear, Defence and Civil division in the UK. You will lead multi-discipline design projects, manage drawings, calculations, and procurement specifications, and ensure compliance with CDM regulations while guiding a growing team.

The role offers hybrid working with regular client engagement and opportunities to advance technically and professionally, with a track record in FEED projects and highly regulated

Qualifications

• Degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering or equivalent.
• Chartered status with the IMechE, CIBSE or other relevant body.
• Experience delivering written work: functional specs, basis of design, equipment specs, V&V plans.
• Experience in highly regulated environments (Nuclear, Health/Life Sciences, Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical or Rail).
• Broad knowledge of industry standards, legislation and engineering principles (CIBSE).
• Strong commercial awareness, FEED project experience.
• Ability to manage multiple projects.
• Client-facing experience and strong client relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and CPD commitment.

Responsibilities

• Lead building services aspects of multi-discipline design projects from feasibility to detailed design for nuclear projects.
• Manage and review design drawings, layouts, schematics including HEAV, LEV, BMS installations.
• Review and check design calculations and documentation.
• Guide the delivery of high-quality written work and design basis.
• Ensure compliance with construction (DM) regulations across projects.
• Lead bids and project estimates with cost awareness and innovative solutions.
• Drive project delivery with resource planning and client engagement.
• Mentor multidisciplinary teams to support growth and success.
• Act as primary client contact to ensure collaboration and delivery.
