Job summary

GSL Education Kent is seeking a proactive Primary Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Thanet. This full-time, long-term supply role starts ASAP and offers a supportive environment where children are encouraged to be curious and resilient.

You will work alongside teachers delivering an inclusive curriculum, lead 1:1 and small group sessions in literacy and numeracy, monitor progress and uphold safeguarding protocols.

Qualifications

  • Experience working as a Primary Teaching Assistant or in related youth-support capacity.
  • Right to work in the UK and ability to pass safer recruitment checks including DBS.
  • Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS and Update Service.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with class teachers to deliver an engaging and inclusive primary curriculum.
  • Lead 1:1 sessions or small group activities focused on literacy, numeracy, and social development.
  • Assist in monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to safeguarding protocols.

As a Primary Teaching Assistant, you will be expected to:

In order to be considered for this Primary Teaching Assistant role, the candidate must:

  • Have prior experience working as aPrimary Teaching Assistantor in a related youth-support capacity.
  • Demonstrate a sincere passion for helping young students grow both academically and personally.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills and a reliable, professional work ethic.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Meet GSL's safer recruitment background checks.
  • Have a Child Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
