Job summary

GSL Education Kent Branch is seeking a caring SEN Teaching Assistant to work with pupils with additional needs in Canterbury. This role offers one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils develop confidence, independence and learning in a supportive school setting.

Applicants should have a caring, patient approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well in a team. DBS check via Update Service is preferred or willingness to apply.

Are you a caring and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity to support children and young people with additional needs?

GSL Education Kent Branch are seeking a motivated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work with fabulous schools in Canterbury. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and helping them develop their confidence, learning, and independence.

Key Responsibilities of the Special Educational Needs TA:
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN.
  • Assist pupils with their learning and classroom activities.
  • Support students with their social, emotional, and behavioural needs.
  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils.
  • Encourage pupils to participate confidently in lessons and school activities.
  • Support teachers with classroom management and learning activities.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Requirements for the SEN TA role:
  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEND, SEMH, or behavioural needs is an advantage.
  • A caring, patient, and positive approach.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a school team.
  • A genuine passion for supporting pupils and helping them achieve their potential.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service or willingness to apply through GSL Education.
