Job summary

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant for a part-time, long-term position in the Sutton Coldfield area. The role offers flexible hours and is payable at £90-£108 per day, with opportunities to work five days a week or just one.

You will support pupils across Early Years to Year 6, assisting with learning, behaviour, and classroom activities in welcoming primary schools.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification desirable.
• At least one year's experience working in a school setting.
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across Early Years to Year 6.
• Working with individual pupils and small groups to support their learning, development and progress.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and helping to create a calm, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Assisting pupils with varying abilities and learning needs, including those requiring additional support.
• Helping to prepare classroom resources and learning activities to enhance pupil engagement.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, teaching assistants, and other school staff to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
• Supporting pupils' social, emotional, and academic development, helping them to build confidence and reach their full potential.
• Assisting with playground duties, school activities, and other responsibilities as required by the school.

To be successful in this role, you must:

• Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential)
• At least one year's experience working in a school setting if you do not hold a relevant qualification
• Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant within a primary school
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills
• A passion for supporting children's learning, development, and wellbeing
• A positive, patient, and flexible approach to working with pupils of varying abilities
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one
