Job summary

Long Term Futures is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant in Quorn (LE12) to support primary-aged pupils with Communication and Interaction needs. You will work in a specialist provision, using visual communication methods to help pupils access learning.

The role involves 1:1 and small-group support, collaboration with teachers and therapists, and helping pupils manage sensory and emotional challenges across the school day.

Qualifications

• Level 3 qualification preferred with SEND/Communication and Interaction experience.
• Experience supporting non-verbal pupils or autism is advantageous.
• Familiarity with visual communication aids like pictures and symbols.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small group support for primary pupils with Communication and Interaction needs.
• Support non-verbal pupils using pictures, symbols and visual prompts.
• Collaborate with teachers and therapists to ensure consistent communication.
• Help pupils manage sensory overload and transitions throughout the day.
• Support personalised learning activities to develop communication and independence.
• Build positive relationships in a calm, nurturing learning environment.
