Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a non-verbal Year 5 pupil in a welcoming mainstream primary school in Ripley. The role is part-time, mornings only, from 8:30am to 12:30pm, starting September 2026 and running until July 2027.

You will help the child communicate, engage with classroom activities and foster a positive learning environment, working closely with teachers and the inclusion team.

Qualifications

• Level 2 or Level 3 TA desirable.
• Experience supporting non-verbal children or pupils with communication needs.
• Experience delivering effective 1:1 support within a school environment.
• Ability to make activities accessible, engaging and enjoyable.
• Patient, positive and nurturing approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent 1:1 support to a non-verbal child across the school day.
• Facilitate communication and enable the child to participate in classroom activities.
• Create an engaging, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
